Malapascua diving packages
Malapascua is an undeveloped island, 4 hours travel from Cebu City. The water is crystal clear and marine life is abundant. The area and the Monad Shoal in particular is famous for Thresher Sharks. It is the very epitome of a beautiful, white sand, sun kissed jewel.
The down side to this of course is the fact that the Island has no electricity except that which is generated locally, so you can expect power cuts each day. The islanders are expecting a regular power supply to be in operation in 2009.
The water supply is from the wells and is brackish, no proper water supply is anticipated in the very near future, but there is talk of a de-salination installation.
A new pier is under construction and they are are intending to build a new pier at the North and South ends of the island and for some basic roads to be built, but cars will not be allowed.
A lot of the resorts have been adding facilities in the last 3 years but it has not been a major change. The island is moving more away from backpacker style rooms, to a better class of room. There are more AC rooms now, more of which have (almost) 24 hour electric for the AC, but still only a handful have hot water.
The government implemented a 30 meter rule to clear the first 30 metres of beachfront, so affected resorts knocked down their front buildings and built in the back. The beachfront now looks much nicer.
